The Early Unions - Voices of Europe

The programme shows the wealth of polyphony in the Europe of the Late Middle Ages, including two countries where one would not expect native polyphony – Poland and Croatia.  Also, relatively unknown composers (Soriano, Juan Ponce) and Renaissance masterpieces (‘Fremuit spritu Jesus’) are included in the programme.  The concert displays the unanimity from the first polyphony (the Winchester Troper) up until the final chromatic ‘laundering’ of a decadent polyphony (Michelangelo Rossi).  The programme shows the unexpectedly versatile landscape of an exclusive European art.
